The Sopranos - Tony Sopranos Clothes Auctioned For 187750

Tony Soprano's clothes have fetched $187,750 (£95,464) at a charity auction at Christie's in New York.

The bloodied outfit worn by the fictional mob-boss in the long-running US series The Sopranos when he was shot by Uncle Junior was the top lot, selling for $43,750 (£22,245).

The white tank top, beige and black short-sleeved shirt and black trousers raised 15 times more than Christie's had estimated for charity Wounded Warrior, which helps wounded US troops.

Actor James Gandolfini, who played Tony Soprano in the hit show, was at the auction along with a soldier from Wounded Warrior.

Altogether, 25 lots were sold, making five times their estimate.

Top sellers were a striped short robe, which fetched $21,250 (£10,805), another robe with an S insignia on the breast pocket, which went for $13,750 (£6,991) and a blue shirt worn by Tony in the opening credits which went for the same amount.

The Sopranos aired for six seasons and ended in June 2007.
